I’m just going to come out and say it… Tuesday was crazy. Players traded. Mitchell’s heart felt advise ignored. The word Graped invented and used multiple times. All of that being said, let’s look back at the 3 most important things that happened last week…
- Close games. Hanna beat Mason by 1 point and Logan beat Jake by 2 points. Ouch to both of you. The real crime in all of this was that Jake started the Patriots D/ST and they scored a whooping negative 4 points. I mean who can blame him, the Patriots are known for their lock down Defense (not really). For the guy that plays the match-up, that was a big miss.
- David Johnson. Yea, I feel like I’m piling it on here but it is kinda ironic that the dude who walked away from the draft, saying the draft isn’t important just lost his first-round pick. Is it poetic justice? Not for me to say but home boy is going to have to do some hustling to get back in this one.
- Trades. I might have sounded a little harsh when I said Ben’s trade with Mason was the worst I’ve ever seen in a competitive league but man… that was a bad trade. On a lot of levels. Did anyone read my blog on trades? Even glance at it? Do I need to make an audio book? I mean, come on. There are rankings for players at the tip of your fingers that you can reference at any point… Just throwing that out there.
To the picks.
Hanna vs Ben
I’m not going to beat the dead horse so, let’s look at some other analysis. I’m just going to come out and say it… Hanna has a better team than me. My heart says no but the fact that she now has the best QB, a top 2 RB and the best WR says differently. I’m actually kinda excited to see if this team wins the league, it would really prove the age-old wisdom that star players will win you the league. Ben on the other hand, his team looks like a city that’s been ravaged by a natural disaster. Someone call JJ Watt… Too soon? Hanna wins.
Tim vs Jarrod
I’m just going to come out and say it, this is the best match-up of the week. Tim won a week that he didn’t have his first round pick (We will get to that later) and Tom Brady did not throw a Touchdown. Weird. For those who didn’t believe me when I said that Jarrod getting Kareem Hunt was the pick of the draft, now you see what I was saying. If Kareem Hunt is an effective starting RB all year, his team will be one of the best. Last week, New Orleans made Sam Bradford look like a super star, OBJ didn’t play and Leonard Fournette looked like a grown man. BUT even though Tim has a lot going for him, I love Green at Houston and Lamar Miller at Cincy. As much as it pains me. Jarrod wins.
Mason vs Derek
Poor, poor Derek. Dude just can’t catch a break. Allen Robinson is the latest to add to his list of people on IR and at this point, it’s not funny anymore. Speaking of not being funny anymore, Mason makes more trades than me. He’s like me, three years ago before you all learned to not trade with me anymore. Homie has a line-up now (thanks to Ben). The one issue I have with this team is he’s a little over extended on Oakland players. Now, I like Oakland’s offense as much as the next guy but one bad Oakland week tanks his team, just a thought. I’m just gonna come out and say it, Mason is my new number 1 team in the league. I’m just gonna come out and say it, I wish evil on some of his players. Nothing bad, pulled muscles to slow them down. Much like Derek’s broken season, this one won’t end well for him. Mason wins.
Logan vs Gray
Logan won a tight one last week and I think he might be setting up for a playoff run but… I’m just gonna come out and say it, Gray’s team might be the most underrated after week 1. It’s not going to be very often that Brees, Bell and Gronk flop. Plus, he lost Danny Woodhead in the second quarter. Logan’s team picked up a nice win last week and I think he had several players under preform. Dez and Michael Thomas should have much better weeks this week. On a personal note, I beat Gray last week and that’s a big deal. I would hate to be the person who has to live through a week of Gray on the chat, after he beats you. That being said, I think Logan will be that person this week. Gray wins.
Jake vs Adam
Adam also obviously did not read my post on trades, because he traded Amare Cooper for four players. Now, the good news is that’s a great move to sure up his bench. The bad news is, the BENCH DOESN’T SCORE POINTS. I’m just gonna come out and say it, if Ben didn’t make that trade with Mason, we’d be talking about how bad that trade was. Jake is going to have to get used to life without his number 1 pick and that’s going to be hard but it is manageable. I’d really like to give Jake’s “Mitchell’s fantasy advise corner of the week’s helpful tip”. Jake, why wouldn’t you start Theo Riddick over Ted Ginn or Chris Hogan? I really feel like you’re trying to be too cute here. Start the guy that’s going to give you guaranteed points. Now, for my prediction, Jake doesn’t listen to “Mitchell’s fantasy advise corner of the week’s helpful tip” Adam wins.
Mitchell vs Caleb
Hot take time.
I’m just going to come out and say it, for how drunk Caleb was, his starting line up isn’t that bad. I’m just going to come out and say it, you can really tell how drunk Caleb was by looking at his bench. I’m just going to come out and say it, my “high upside” bench player idea might not be looking so hot at the moment. I’m just going to come out and say it, there’s no way Scott Tolzien is a starting QB over Colin Kapernick… What who said that?! Alright, I’m just going to come out and say it, I tweet Cam Newton a dozen times this week asking him what Kelvin did that made him ignore him on Sunday. I’m just going to come out and say it, Eddie Lacy is done in the NFL. I’m just going to come out and say it, DeAndre Hopkins is waaayyy better if Watson is the starter Thurday night. I’m just going to come out and say it, Todd Gurley is dangerously close to Trent Richardson (2.9 YPC against the Colts?! Come on) and if last week against one of the weakest run defenses was any indication of how his season will progress, I might have been wrong about him. I’m just going to come out and say it, if Carson Palmer doesn’t get it together, Fitz drops outside of the top 30 WR’s. I’m just gonna come out and say it, if Jamaal Charles didn’t fumble Monday night, he would have had 5 more carries and we’d be talking about how we was going to take that job…
Man, so many hot takes.
Mitchell wins.
Be good everyone.
